Default License Plate Bulb Replacement

Okay, so I needed to replace one plate bulb from my back license plate that was burned out so figured I would do two at the same time.

I used the obvious tab on the light cover to pop the cover off both lights (left and right), popped out the old bulbs, put in the new ones, put the light harness back into the bumper, and that's where it ended.

I couldn't get the covers to fit (and hold) back onto the bulb harness. There doesn't seem to be any tabs or anything. It got dark so I gave up until I can look again tomorrow.

Anyone else deal with this before?

i used gorilla glue, probably overkill but i like the stuff and had some around.

first i twisted out the bulb and socket harness, so I had the plate that clips into the bumper and the cover piece. i scratched out dirt so that the glue would bond well. put two medium dabs on the two spots were the pieces fit together and then a smaller ring around opening in the bumper plate.

gorilla has a 15 minute working time so near the end of the 15 minutes i pressed the pieces together again and then put them on a table (cover facing up), so gravity would help it set. gorilla also expands (bubbles out), on this project it's fine but if you are working on something were it could be noticeable don't use it.

a few hours after setting (i think around 3), i clipped it into the bumper, it fit perfectly. yesterday i was putting the plate into the bumper from the back with trouble, it was obviously made with this cover plate to fit in from the front. next i put the bulps in and gave them a 1/4 twist and i was done.
