U-joints OK?
Perhaps have a friend go from Reverse to Drive and see if the noise can be replicated- perhaps a rear-end problem?
Anything loose in the bed, or the spare tire carrier?
other than these suggestions - don't know????

ok, guess its not the rear, just sounded like it to me. i had some passengers in the truck and they said it sounded like it was coming from underneath the truck under the rear seat in the middle. it is most noticible when its rainy out. barely does it when its dry.

workin for parts!!!
could be coming from the rear, because the driveshaft being hollow will carry the sound from the rear. if you have rear drum brakes, are they binding then releasing abruptly? it almost sounds like the rear axle is turning up or down and giving the pinion a bad angle, but i'm no mechanic. you'll find some great advice on this forum.

I had this same problem... I replaced my drive shaft and didn't use the right grease.
There is a Ford Service Bulletin out there(it's in my other post) that tells you the correct grease to use. It's teflon based and about $8 for the tube.
if you have had work done either on your tranny or diff where they removed your driveshaft. that's probably the issue.
