Default Key Won't Turn At All...Any Ideas?

I searched but could not find anything more to try, my key wont turn forward or back. I bought a 97 F150 a couple months ago and it worked fine without any problems then one day it stops altogether? I tried turning the wheel and lifting the shifter, the usual fixes. Also sprayed a little teflon spray into it and tried tapping key with hammer. Key seems as if it isn't going in all the way. Does anyone have any other ideas how I can fix it?

Try moving key in/out really fast! It may have dirt in there or the pins maybe starting to get stiff!

Your shift lever is probably falling down enough when put into park to prevent the ignition switch from turning.
Try this:
Hold the shift lever all the way up in park with your left hand and turn the key with your right.

If that don't work it may be a wore out key or the tumblers inside the ignition.

Thanks, still nothing though. I think the cylinder will need to be replaced, does anyone know how to get it out without turning it forward?

Is your steering wheel locked?

Wasn't at first but when I tried turning the wheel to get the key to turn it locked. I jacked up the front end and tried turning the wheel also while turning the key.

A little secret to try, put the key in the switch and hold pressure on it like you are going to turn it on, then with the other hand or another person whom you trust with a hammer, tap on the end of the key, while still trying to turn it, not hard enough to break the plastic end, but a few good taps should do it. This usually works to get it to turn, but this is just to get it to turn to take for repair, because it will stick again. If it will not turn then the only other option is to drill out the tumblers and locking bar so the key cylinder can be replaced.

I spray WD-40 on the key and slide it in and out. For stubborn ones, I will put a half second shot in the ignition.

I had a key that I had a real time to get to turn. I had a new key made, and programmed...working fine now
