Default K&N Air Filter, 1998 F150 5.4L

My K&N filter seems to be loose inside the "filter box" (for lack of a better term). When the engine is running does the filter get sucked up against the MAF housing? Should there be something that anchors it into place instead of just pushing it all the way back? Thanks!

It will fit in the airbox a little loose, but when you attach it to the mount it should snug up. If you can hear it rattling around or something after its all put together you probably have the wrong filter.

Thanks. When I push it into the air box it is snug, but there is a couple of inches of space between the filter and the MA box inlet. A stock filter should be the same fit. I am just wondering if there used to be some kind of "ring" that holds the filter instead of pushing it all the way back towards the intake inlet.
