I have a 2000 f150 4x4 5.4 and when i first start it up and put it into drive the rpm's fly up and the truck lunges forward but it only does it the first time i put it in drive, i can put the truck back into park and then back into drive and it doesnt do it its only the first time its put into drive it does it. I will even turn my truck on and let it sit for a little bit before i put it in drive but it still does it. I been driving it like this for a few years now and its nothing big but if i could find out what it is id like to fix it so does anyone have a clue to what it could be?

Mine does the same. I'm going to clean my iac soon and hopefully that might help some. Lately, I've been having a problem with it starting and not coming up to idle right away when started.

I'd thoroughly clean your throttle body and mass air flow sensor, and if they doesn't do anything, I'd look at the throttle cable.
