I'll start with driver side and test the wires once I get all the panels off. Then I'll know if I need to do the passenger side. I'll keep you guys all posted on the outcome. I appreciate everyone being willing to help. I have a list of items I need to work on and will be reaching out for more help!!

Stumped again..... I changed out the actuator in both front doors and no fix. I literally get no clicks no sounds, nothing when i hit the door lock buttons inside. I don't have a keyless fob for the car to test that. The door locks must be wiring or relay issues. I need some more help. I did buy another relay from NAPA. Ive never really messed with relays, but this looks like it belongs in the fuse box under the hood.

Ive read some other threads that say a relay box is under the oval piece on the dash...if so, what do i need to check with this box? Im getting frustrated with this problem. Ive read other people having problems with the RAD, but they say it makes a clicking noise behind brake pedal. I dont even have a clicking noise anywhere, NOTHING....

What do I do or check now?

I feel like I have checked the fuses, 10 times, and they are fine, but can you guys lead me to the right fuses to check again.....I GUESS

Go back and look at my earlier post (number 9). Did you check the voltage on the wires leading to the actuators? If you did, and had voltage there in lock and unlock, then the actuator sound have been the culprit.

I respect your desire to fix this yourself, but it sounds like it may be time to ask the assistance of someone with a bit more experience and knowledge in troubleshooting vehicle electrics like this (?).

I have a similar situation as the OP, in a '01 XLT scab.

In my case, I can hear the actuators trying to do their job (same condition in either door ). I haven't yet tested the voltage in either door, due to weather and work limitations.

My question is this: Given that I clearly have sound coming from the actuator attempting to cycle, is this an actuator issue, or a linkage issue?

My assumption is that if it is relay related it would do nothing at all. Nor does it make sense to me that the linkage would fail after the actuator in both doors, unless it was from neglect on the part of previous owner(s).

Did theey both start doing this at exactly the same time? The way you describe what they do it sounds like the actuator itself. It would be odd if they failed at the same time. But it wouldn't be odd if they failed close together. I've replaced both of mine and they did fail pretty close together.

No idea. I've had the truck for 2 weeks now. The guy I got it from had it for like 5 weeks.

What I do know is both doors sound the same, and switches in either door do the same thing. My feeling is that the actuators need replaced. For now, I want to get it figured out and order parts, so when warmer weather shows up I can get it fixed.

Order them from Rock auto-cheap. Try one and if it works you know the other one will to. Its been awhile but I remember you have to remove the door panel the outer handle and if recollection serves me correctly the actuator itself is mounted to the door latch the linkage actually comes off that. Make sure you get the window back on the track or it wont close good. There at the bottom of the back track there is what looks like a pen clip and that has to be in the right position or the window will roll up slowly when you get it all back together.
