Default Igntion key part number

I was wondering if anyone happens to know the part number for the ignition key. I'd like to order one but I can't find an original one anywhere. It is a PATS key.

This one will work good. No Ford logo on it but the 4C chip is what you need for the 99-03 F150. What year is your truck?

It's a 03. But I'd kinda like one with the logo I plan on getting a fob too and having a new set and i don't really trust aftermarket ones. Too many reviews of them not working or working then quit after awhile (chip failing or not being readable )

Here's one with the logo. Its $9 so you'll probably just have to take a risk. Probably 90% of the bad /cant program reviews on line are from someone doing something wrong in the programing process. YOU MUST HAVE TWO FACTORY (from my understanding cloned keys will not work for programming even if they do start the truck) KEYS or else you WILL have to have a dealer or someone with the right computer to clear and re program the new keys. Unfortunately I don't think you can buy a FACOTRY blank, and I could not find the part number anywhere. I went through something similar not to long ago. I purchased this key http://www.ebay.com/itm/321756655586?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and did some modification to make it fit the collar around the ignition. I can tell you if the key has a 4C chip it will program if you follow the correct directions to a T.

I even called a couple Ford parts dealers and specialists they told me for security reasons (don't understand what security reasons) I could not get a factory un cut key or key part number.

I've bought 6 cheapo ebay keys for my fords, they all work fine, just need to follow the directions.
hard part around here is getting somebody to cut a pats key, they all say they can't do it because they can't program it.
I finally got the local locksmith to cut me one and then he watched me program it. now he cuts them for me no questions asked.

That info is not given out, much less over the phone. I work at a Toyota dealer in the parts dept and we don't duplicate keys, we cut them from the factory key code. Key cutters can be bought aftermarket but the key codes are keep secure. You have to ask yourself why someone would want a uncut factory key.
Just go to your local ford dealer with an id and proof of ownership and buy the right parts the first time.

If you take your title with the truck and have 2 original keys it won't cost much. If you don't have 2 original keys you will either have to get it reprogramed or go aftermarket and clone the one you have.

Didn't Home Depot (larger stores) have a new key machine last fall, that could program keys? I read somewhere and commented on it online, but where I can't remember. I believe it was either a store in Texas or Ohio, that were the first to get them. They were suppose to give the blank, the programming and everything for 29.95 or so. Do any of you have one of those HD's around your area that have these machines yet? It's been in the past 5-6 months since I read that.

They have a machine that clones the key. If you have your original and one of these clones, you cannot use them to activate another key. The PATS system sees a cloned key the same as the original, so it does not work for making more working copies. If all you have is one key and are just needing one more key and don't need to make any more yourself, it is a cheaper option.

As for the OP, I have 3 keys I bought off eBay and use with no issues. Less than $18 for all 3 keys, another ~$8 to get them cut at the local ACE Hardware, then brought 1 to my mechanic to program it and the original key to the truck (he charged me $40). I programmed the other 2 myself. 1 key has the Ford logo on it, the other 2 are just flat at the key head (one is red, and has a red fob, it is my spare I leave in the garage, the other is pink with a pink fob for my wife's key ring)
