Question i need opinions

I have a 2001 f150 5.4L triton
I am planning on putting a locker in my differential
I need opinions on what brand and what type I should get, I mainly drive on road with this truck but I also want to be able to go off-road
so i'm not sure which one to get

My only experience with a locker is i had a Auburn Locker In my 95 Chevy K1500 and after a year it exploded like a pumpkin on halloween night, but that was the 4th time on a complete rearend rebuild in 4 years on that garbage 10 bolt.
I bought an auburn because of their reputation, and i wouldnt hesitate to use one again, i think it was the truck that was hard on rear ends.

For mostly street use I would use a Detroit True-trac even though it is not really a locker it still is a proven performer off road with excellent street manners. Other than that you can not go wrong with a Detroit locker, ARB air locker, or Auburn E locker that is a limited slip till you flip the switch.

True-tracs here. A front locker will get you farther offroad than a rear locker. Just Fyi..

I have the Auburn diff and never had any problems but I only have 5000 miles on it prob. It's a meaty sob compared to stock

Selectable if you can afford it but a good ls like the true-trac will be good for a dd. Although an auto locker is fairly street friendly
