How to remove the clutch fan
I'm swapping my motor in my 97 ... its a 5.4 and i can't get the pulley off the water pump. I need to remove the fan as it was quite a project to get the motor out with it on but i did it. But i need it for the new motor ... so how do i get this thing off?

The part stores rent a wrench set specially made to do this. I usually used a "crows foot" pry bar to get in behind the pulley to hold it, and a big wrench to spin the nut. If I remember right, it may have been a left handed thread on that fan too...

There are 4 bolts holding the pulley to the pump. Fit a large flat screw driver between the shaft and two of the bolts and use that as a pry bar to hold the pulley stationary while you turn the nut on the fan counter-clockwise. If you do not have a large flat screw driver go rent the fan tool.
