does anyone have any good information on repairing your own ABS module? or has anyone done it themselves? another post got me to thinking if you send it off and pay $150 to get it rebuilt why cant you rebuild it yourself? mine has beed unplugged for over a year because the motor wouldnt stop running. Im going to post in a few forums to see if I get any good info

yours is a different problem, yours is the ABS sensor located on top of the rear differential. replace it for like $20 and your good.

I have the same issue with my 2000 expedition. My abs light came on yesterday and it for some reason the module was not shutting off and caused my battery to die. It was humming really loud all night til it died. I took it in and they told me the abs module is bad and said it was going to be $1000 to replace! I asked if they could put a used one on or rebuild it and they said no. I looked on ebay to find a replacement and saw something about just rebuilding it. They did something to disable the abs so the module doesnt stay on but I have the abs light on now. Is there a way to rebuild or do we just have to replace it?

I had to swap rearends on my '90 Van with rear ABS and all I could find at the boneyard was an 89 diff without the ABS. All I did was just swap out the diff and unplug the ABS computer. Had no more problem, no more idiot lights and regular non-abs brakes
