help-rubber hose gas fill is cracked/leaking
my 1997 f150 4x4 has a gas fill leak. the rubber has cracked at the bend going into the tank. my "friendly ford" dealer informed me that the rubber is not available seperately, but must be purchased as part of the gas fill assembly. cost is $297 from him, and way too much $ for me. the rubber hose appears to have distinct bends in it, and the hose is relatively short. is there a work around to this problem? any ideas from the members here that have had this problem would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

When I had my old '73 Jeep Wagoneer with an auxiliary gas tank, I had a setup made from 2" PVC pipe and neoprene hose. Don't use rubber, the gas will dissolve it. Gotta use neoprene or the clear plastic hose from Home Depot.
