Default How much weight can i put in my bed

Hello,

I have a 2000 F-150 XLT 5.4 V8 with the 6' bed. I was wondering how much weight i can saftly put in the bed of the truck. Would carring 1,500 lbs in the bed be bad for my suspention?

Also if any one know's what the maximum i can put in the bed that would be great.

Thank you,

I've done 1500 a bunch...I'm going to say about 2-2500 depending on your srprings/shock setup...but yeah 1500 shouldn't be any problem for you.

here's a pic of mine with 2 1/4 tons on it. I wouldn't recommend doing this. It pushed the aftermarket exhaust down on some wires and melted through them and threw all kinds of codes. lol I would stay somewhere under 2 tons.

but if he has the stock exhaust on i wouldnt picture the exhaust melting any wires essential to throwing a cel or melting any wires for that case. they have to be engineered to not run into that situation im almost positive. usually the exhaust runs down one side from fatory(opposite the gas tank) and all the wires run down the opposite side, if not ford engineering here i come! lol

Thanks fella's.

I had a feeling the load capacity was around 1 ton. And figured 1,500 was a good number to be on the safe side.

the wires it melted were right on top of the rearend, and yes if I had a stock exhaust it probably wouldn't have happened. but either way it felt like it was way too much.

i wouldn't go over 2 tons 1 1/2 to be safe.

An F-150 is a half-ton truck, so that means that Ford engineered it to be able to handle 1000 lbs in the bed.. But obviously it can handle more than that, but that's what "half-ton" means.

I would need to know your wheelbase in inches and your cab configuration plus your options code to give you a exact, with that said I would not go over 1,500 lbs and don't leave it on the truck overnight. 1,500 is the lowest rateing for a F-150 with a 5.4.

So you're saying that you put 4500lbs in the back of your truck??? (2-1/4 tons)

Did you mean 2250lbs?
