I was just wondering how much HP our 5.4's could make and i dont mean just CAI and programmer internal stuff idk much about that kind of stuff but i want to know what all you can do to build the engine and come out with the most HP? And would a stock trans hold the power?

Default The Sky's the Limit:

I've seen some 4.6L engines tweaked to 820hp, but that's major, major stuff with twin turbos, intercooler, water/alcohol injection and some strong parts in the bottom end.....the trannies won't take that kind of punishment without a lot of rework.

The lightnings have a supercharged 5.4 and have a 4r100 trans. They come stock with 380hp i believe.

A lot of people supercharge our trucks and see about the same horsepower, or more. depending on boost, tune, exhaust, stuff like that.

Hah I was just fixen to tell you about this guy making 1200hp, but he has a built tranny.

I'm planning on being in the 500hp range before the 100 shot in my 4x4 so we'll see

The harley is in the 400hp range.

Theres alot more going into the big truck though I've heard you lose 20% being 4x4 vs 2x4

And theres alot more than people think, to make these swaps work on a N/A

It all depends on how deep your wallet is... I wouldn't be shocked to see 900hp out of a 5.4.. Pretty sure the Mustang Shelby GT500 Supersnake is pushing 750hp and has a 5.4..

Ya you lose a good % of HP to the rear wheels through the transfer case in 4wd..

And there is alot of work to swaps.. I'd love to do 1 but damn...

they just had the autograf cobra on supercars on speed and it was making 1000rwhp breaking the tires loose at 100mph

but the gt500 is a 4v 5.4 not a 2v

but 400rwhp would be possible for a n/a 5.4 if you had heads cams headers and the right tuning
