How to make my truck louder?
Short of a new exhaust system, what can I do to make my truck a little louder? (The cheaper the better) I've heard of drilling holes through my exhaust but I am hesitant. I have a 97 4.6 V8.

i wouldnt hack it like that for around 3-400 bucks you should be able to have a decent system installed on your truck or you can straight pipe it but i know i paid about 300 bucks on my old truck and got a decent dual catback system put on at a local shop!!

Just save your money, take some time, and do the job right and get a new muffler. If you have to get loud immediately, which I have no idea why you would, just cut off the muffler/pipe, and add a turndown tip. Do not drill holes in anything.

Dude, there's a ton of muffler shops around here that install Flowmaster 40's and Super 44's all day for $150-170 without tips. If you decide to get some fancy tips then you'll pay a little more money. Most of the stainless and chrome tips range from $20-50 a piece depending on what you want.
No need to hack the thing up honestly. Drilling holes is a little too ghetto in my opinion.

You don't have to hack anything. I have the same truck and your exhaust if its still stock should come out before the tire. There's a U bolt before your muffler holding your exhaust pipe into your muffler. Undo the TWO bolts and then take off the two exhaust hangers after the muffler and buy a cuppling that fits and a piece of exhaust pipe and straight pipe it right out the back of the truck. When you go to get inspected its two bolts to put the muffler back into place to pass your inspection. Cost me about 25 bucks for the cuppling and the piece of pipe and I had a tip sitting around. Sounds badass. If you really want it to be cheap just take off the muffler and the hangers and leave it like that.
