Default acceleration troubles

my 2003 ford f 150 4x4 super crew when i am goin down the road it shifts out great but when i put the pedal on the floor it boggs down and only goes to about 3500 rpms and spits and sputters. if i gradually accelerate it will max out on the rpms it only does it when i stomp on it. does anyone have any sugg.

My 1998 4.6 will do this when it is time for new plugs and possibly wires. Your 2003 will have the "Coil on plug" or COP plug wire design and those are supposed to last a while. 1998 was the last year with the 2 seperate coil packs, and mine have been terrible. I got mine new in 1998 and have been through 7 sets of plugs and 4 sets of wires. Anyway, installing a new set of O.E.M. Motorcraft plugs is a cheap way to restore lost power, especially if you can't remember when they were changed last. Good luck, let us know what the problem was and how you fixed it.
