Exclamation Please Help ASAP!

Hi Im new to this site, I did something pretty dumb Im hoping there's some tech's on here who can help me

1997 F150, 4.6 automatic. I wanted to disable the odmeter for a while, I won't say why, but I did, so I unplugged it from the tranny. everything was fine, drove ok with no speedo for a few blocks. then the tranny quit. It wont got into gear at all. So I plug it back in, stil nothing. What did I do?

Now when its running and its put in park, it makes a ticking noise and I dont think park is engaging properly. One time it when into gear and drove like it was all good but quit after a block. I called a tranny guy i know, his advice was to take off the battery cable and touch them together to reset something. I tried with no success.

Any help or suggestions would be appricietted, I need the truck ASAP badly. It was a fairly stupid thing to do I know, but i need help thanks.

Congrats you prolly burned up the transmission. The sensor on the side of the transmission is for the computer to control the shifting pressures and engagement of the clutches and lockup on the convertor. You might be lucky and it didnt burn up. Drop the pan and look at the fluid. See if there is alot of metal or debris in the pan. Change the filter. Lightly tap the solonoids on the front of the valve body. One of them might be stuck. You can take them off and apply voltage to them and make sure they move with 12v applied.

Check Your 4 Wheel Drive... Transfer Case May Have Shifted Partly Into Neutral, This Would Cause No Park Engagement As Well As No Movement. 4x4 Shift Electrically? Put The Truck In Neutral And Shift The 4 Wheel Drive From 2 Hi - 4 Hi -n - 4 Lo And Back, Then Try To Drive It. Might Be A Good Idea To Do It With The K O E O That Way Nothing Drastic Happens.
