Default Explorer Sport Trac Tailgate in Flareside Bed

For those of us with a SCrew or Flareside, I saw this in the parking lot today.

I didn't speak with the owner about modifications, but it looks (somewhat) clean and could be a good alternative if you can't find a tailgate.

No thanks.
Plus Sprot tracs are even harder to find parts for than step side/Supercrew.

I don't like the badge location and the strange body line that doesn't flow with the rest of the truck

Yep on the harder to find parts. My last truck was a Sport Trac.
Also that lower body line is just trim. Can't remember if you can remove it or not.

You have to give the owner of the truck some credit coming up with the idea that it would work. I give the guy a 5 or originality and a 3.5 for looks. A dark color might not look too bad. Still, quite a neat find to keep a tailgate on your fs or screw. If it was the same color, it would of hardly been a noticable difference. The lower line would be absorbed by the taillights, and is on a perfectly straight line at the bottom, so being the same color as the box, might of made this a neat little replacement. It's like the SD logo on the 08's and up SD's with the step design. It looks strange on Gen 10's with the SUPER DUTY word insert.

I did a quick paint match in photo shop. Looks better but that body line still throws me off. Anyways, in a pinch make do with what works.

The line is too high. If it was under the ford logo it might be better.
