Default Are Hi Flow Cats Worth The Cost?

Hey guys, I have a 2003 4.2L V6 and just bought a Flow Master 40 series si/do muffler to replace my stock muffler. Now before I get down there and start ripping the old stuff out I was wondering if I should throw some extra money into some Hi Flow cats or not. will I really get a performance increase worth the extra $400-$500? or should I just keep the cats and proceed with the muffler and pipes?

I've searched this forum and others and all I can find is topics on V8 models.

The only thing they are good for is mellowing out the sound of an exhaust if you didnt have cats in the first place. So they are pretty much reaaalllly expensive mufflers

If you are looking for better sound, yes they work good. Are they worth the cost? If you want better sound, yes. Big power increase, no!
Heres a sound clip with them on. Note: The sound quality is good, but the picture wasn't so great. (night time)

I didn't see any big improvement in power or torque, but they sound AMAZING with some headers.

thats a V8, right? The only real problem I am having is a hard time finding an exhaust with a sound I like for a V6. This is the only V6 I have ever owned. (previously had a 351 windsor...and some others, but that was my baby) I dunno, I'm just looking for something that will liven up the truck a little when I leave a red light, sound wise.
