I have a 2002 5.4l Supercrew with 81k. Here is the issue, I am getting a loud knock or you could call it a clank on the passenger side of the engine. It changes with the RPM and seems louder at the top of the engine vs. the bottom. I checked all the ex. manifold bolts and all 8 seem to be intact.
Please help as this is my DD!!!!!

Do the 2002's have a cam phaser?

I am being told that it is a cam tensioner, at the cost of about $1000.00!!

What do you guys think????

Buddy, wish I had the hands on intel on these later engines, as with all engines, its a guessing game. Keep doing your research and learn from those you think you can trust. Will PM to a member who I trust as to his input, want to do more but have zero experience on the 5.4.

Just got a call from my tech and he tells me that an oil baffle at the bottom of the fill spout broke off and that is what was banging around in the valve cover.
What you guys think??
