Here is a good video.... explaining about the deet... also at the end he links another way that is "better" for your finish. I use the mothers kit and double tape the vehicle so as not to damage the paint.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have an older Mothers kit and it just does a soso job. Don't want to go to the expense of changing them for now. Just wanted to get them cleaned up for the winter.
