Default Headlamp switch replacement

I accidentally busted off the face of my headlamp switch and now it just falls off, so I guess I need to replace the entire switch. How do you do it on a 99 F150? Thanks!

pry the switch out hte correct way....theres a slot on the bottom...use someting soft underneath so dont mar dash (if it matters).

then you can glue the face back on

or spend $40 for a new switch, or $10 for a used one at junkyard...that might have seen water or have backlight burnt out, etc.

I had mine out to clean finger dirt off of it while working on something else, and someone knocked it out of my hand coming around corner, broke the front loose. I used superglue.

Thanks but I don't want to pry on anything else with my luck. The face is busted off. There is no putting this thing back on, and the backlighting is burned out anyhow.

Anyone else have a better, correct way? Where did you get a new one for $40?? I see them more expensive then that!

You pry it out of the dash. Its held in with two metal spring clips. there is slot on bottom rear of faceplat where you insert screwdriver.

usually prying on the faceplate, instead of the switch body, is why the faceplate gets broken off

not on my 99.

The headlight switch has a built in cam that is designed to come off with a series of turns.
1. Turn the **** to the ON position.
2. Remove the **** by gently pulling straight out.
3. Reinstall the **** UPSIDE DOWN.
4. Again turn the **** to the ON position.
5. At this point you should be able to wiggle the entire switch assembly out with light pressure to access the remaining screw.

I've got one sitting in my tool box if you want it. No fog, no auto lamps. 15 shipped.
