They aren't great, I certainly looked into them. What is in the headache rack is what I want to run in the tail light housings except for legal purposes I have to have the red lens due to the reflective properties.

Here is a vid that shows the difference between the OE lights and trailer light LED's.

those are a bit brighter, if you can build something that flows somewhat with the body lines of the bed id say go for it. the xj jeeps are pretty square vehicles so the lights kinda go with the flow in my eyes. if i have some material laying around that isnt too thick ill try to see if i can mach something up. i like!

Maybe one day this week I'll take some of the .16 gauge I have laying around and cut it, and then bend up to fit. If I have time I'll rib it and what not. Hopefully if I start this I can at least get it done before I head back to college. As long as I get it done I'd be quite happy. I can always order the LED's and install everything later as long as I get the housings built. I also looked at using the LMC tail light cover panels instead of bending up my own, but it gives me something to do.

shouldnt be that hard really. make a few cuts in it so you have some bend points to form the shape(which im sure you know). Im looking around as we speak for some flat panel that will work. Havent used any of that in about 8-10 years so scratching head as to where to find it.
