Default hard start and rough idle

i have a 2001 f150 and it acts like it wont start up. i can get it to start up after a while but here whats its doing. since it has been cold here in texas what it does is have a hard time to start. once it starts to you have to step on the gas to keep it running, the engine runs rough.. cycles... and i have to feather it to keep it running. not sure whats the problem, bought a mass airflow sensor and installed it... but still having the start up and idle problem...

if anyone can give me an idea of whats going on i sure would appreciate it... and by the way it doesn't happen when it's warm... only now thats it been cold...

This is where I would start. First off have the Alternator and Battery checked. Any shop in the DFW area will do it for free. I know NTB will, and maybe Firestone. Have them give you the print out. If everything is o.k., I would change the fuel filter out. A fuel pump works, or doesn't work. There is no in between. If a shop changed out your fuel pump, there is a 99% chance they changed your fuel filter also like your suppose to and that was your problem. It is a good thing you changed out you pump because it would have gone out anyways. My next step would be cleaning out the throttle body, and replacing the PCV Valve, go to the dealership if you can and buy the PCV Valve, don't buy any plastic crappo auto store one. Let me know what you find out. Don't eliminate a possible vacuum leak as well.

I would check out your idle air control valve and see if it's carbon caked.

All though on out trucks I would just replace it, cleaning is not always the best idea for these.
