Default Halogens or hid /t Pros and cons

I a have 1999 f150 and I have gotten a offer on some hid lights for my truck. I was wondering what is the best way to go.

HID 6000k or brighter halogens?

I heard both ways you can hurt your truck is this true? (too many of my friends say different things!!!!)

i've had 6000k hid's in my truck for about 6 monyhs now. hasnt hurt anything. And it shouldn't as long as your get a kit with ballasts and wireing harness and not just bulbs. i couldnt be happier with my lights

Can't imagine them actually hurting anything on your truck or car. As long as they're installed correctly, they're an awesome much needed improvement on the 97-03 F-150s. I have never been pleased with the brightness of the headlights on 97-03 F-150s, horrible.

yea but the problem is is that your are hurting other drivers by blinding them if you dont have proper projectors with HID's, which in turn could make them wreck into you. then your truck would be hurt. if you dont want to make your own projectors in your headlights or buy new headlights with projectors made for HID's then i would go with some halogens..... the stock projectors in your headlights right now will not cut it with HID's. you will have light scattering everywhere. otherrr than all of that, if done correctly neither of them will hurt your truck... personally i would buy some new headlights with some good projectors in them or have some made and then put some HID's in that bitch because they are badass

He means reflectors. Projectors are the small lights like Acura's, Audi's, and BMW, etc. have. The design of a halogen reflector with HID retrofit is good for the driver (depending on the setup) and horrible for oncoming traffic.

You can get projector headlights for your trucks but unless they specifically state that they are HID compatible, they will not get you the result you are looking for, though it will probably be better than a halogen reflector with an HID kit.
