2002 f150 5.4 2v trying to change timing components and during tear down I cannot remove the crank pulley... The 3/4 inch bolt came out no problem, but it thrashed the puller I used to get the pulley off! Wouldn't budge, tried pb blaster soaking and gentle head on tappingwith no avail... Ahh tricks out there?

You need a harmonic balancer puller

Did you remove the large washer behind the bolt? If not, it can't pull it off. The picture above still has the washer in front of the crankshaft.

So now that I feel like an idiot, is the pulley likely to have been damaged. Should it be replaced just to be safe, it's $80 ,so wouldn't be a big deal

No. If the rubber isnt being pushed out it will be fine.
