Default Gotts mod!

I recently performed the "gotts mod" on my 2002 5.4L and I am pretty impressed! For all of you that have yet to do this.... get it done!!! It's so easy and I think I spent only like $15 worth of material. The power increase is very noticeable and you notice cruising at lower rpm's which helps gas mileage. For those of you that don't know the concept, you are replacing your stock intake tube (what starts in your fender) with a diameter of approx. 1 and 3/4 in. to a diameter of 3". Its a significant difference and trust me, you will notice. Anyway, had to spread my joy!

Thumbs up

I did it with the silencer mod. I noticed right away the difference in throttle response. I'm glade I came across it on here.

Anyone do it on the 4.2? Just wondering if you get the same response, and what do you do in the silencer mod?

I'd bet it make a noticeable difference in the 4.2 as well. The silencer mod is removing the smaller diameter tube inside the curved portion of the intake that connects to the throttle body.

Heres a how-to on the silencer mod:

not much, some people say it makes it sounds similar to the rushing noise of a cold air intake but I disagree.

I noticed a slight difference in my exhaust tone. Sounds a tiny bit deeper. I dont however hear anything from the intake itsself. If you want to find out how to do it, just google it. One guy you will find posted a step by step process w/ pics on one forum.

I agree as well, throttle response is better. As i did it to my truck my grandpa came up with his 04 ranger and we messed with his intake. 4.0 v6 ranger with gotts intake= NICE!!
