Default Gotts Mod

Has anyone attempted to do the Gotts mod with any material other than a PVC pipe? I am going to do it this weekend. Since it requires filing the pipe to fit the oval intake hole, I am thinking why not get a thinner, more flexible material - like a metal pipe, or a thinner plastic pipe - that can bend to fit the opening?

Could do. Just make sure that it's smooth inside and make sure it does not curve. Does anyone know how the Gotts mod affects mpg?

Apparently. I can try "flexible" PVC. Went to Lowes and Home Depot yesterday after work. No luck. Will try Ace today. I keep good track of my mpg and I will post my findings here. I live in Atlanta and work in Columbia, S.C. - 240 miles apart right now so that at least affords me the opportunity to measure my mpg twice a week, trying various things: speed variation, mods, etc.
