Good idea to straight pipe?

Add the stainless Y pipe and electric dumps with downturns, then you can open em up when you want to be nasty in the wild and close M up sum when you get to town or see a trouper with his ear out thewindow listening to you pull overthe crest of a hill. LOL

I added headers and high flow cats then took the muffler off..
I like the sound, and mpg are about the same.

My 5.4 has a reverse y from the cats to a straight pipe then another y to the duals in the rear. It can be kind of loud, but I don't feel it is too obnoxious unless I start romping on it, although it does tend to drone some while pulling a trailer at highway speeds. Otherwise I'm quite pleased with the sound.

Yep my 79 with true duals is far louder than my straight-piped 5.4 with all the cats still in, I have had 0 problems with the cops over it.

i have true duals and cut my rear cats and muffler off. my 0-60 is still the same as it was with the cats, but it does take a little more to get going at a stop sign. then again it takes me a mile to get up to speed (my driving habits) so i dont think its a negative. i love the sound, and i am really considering cutting the other two off.
