Default PCV Valve Question

Just out of curiosity I have a 2003 5.4 Screw with a heated pcv valve. My pcv valve isn't bad but can you replace the heated one with a non-heated one?

You can do what you want , but that part is to important to cheap out on. It probably has the coolant line wrap around. If not, you still want to run a Motorcraft valve because no after market (so called OEM repalcement valves) part (valves) have the correct specs.

Some stuff you can use aftermarket OEM replacement parts on theses engines, but some replacement parts you can't or shouldn't in order to prevent long term permanent damage. This is one of them. It's worth 5-10 bucks to do it right. That way the valve will last at least 30,000 miles before the next time.

Should be a EV-233 for the 5four.

But there's a notched heated PCV EV-258 for the 4six. I know now the PCV valves were different in 02-03. I bring up the 4six because I'm not seeing it in my parts look-up for the 5four. Huh..

Reason I mention it is because I thought the wrap around and valve was one piece ? Well someone will know I'm sure. Perhaps the EV-238 snaps into the wrap around?

The wrap around is seperate. Just connects on the lip of the valve.

NM, The 258 lists as a 02-03 4.6L NON -Heated.

My confusion... Opps

There's a little clip that connects it to. -

The heated PCV is also slightly taller than the non heated version. A heated versions will push all the way into valve cover and will hit the baffle.
