New member...just pulled 2000 f150 5.4
Here in ARIZONA and just pulled my 5.4 windsor 4x4 flareside extend cab at 212k miles. Bought the truck a week ago with the intent to rebuild/refresh so I can have a reliable second f150.
Bought a 97 new 4.6 windsor 4x4 flareside regular cab which has 467k miles which I rebuilt a year ago and runs great but this thread is about my 5.4.
Anyway, everything looks about the same as my 97 but was wondering if MOST of the specs are the same for the 5.4? This 5.4 was running ok but was LEAKING everywhere so I knew what I was going to do when I bought it....no surprise.
Oh yea, 5.4 has a lot more power vs 4.6. Think I'm going to like it. Also I have the OEM service manuals (paperback) for the 1997 4.6.
Any thoughts/comments?

A modular motor that leaks everywhere is unusual...not a very good start.

There's OIL everywhere mixed with dirt. Who knows EXACTLY where it's coming from. Can't tolerate leaks. Has anyone HERE rebuilt both motors? That person would know the differences if any.
I'm most likely safe using my 1997 manuals but I'll research more.

Lol
Good luck with the rebuild... must be more of a hobby. definitely not worth the expense or effort.
