Both of mine also have this plastic cover on them. I think it may have helped it.

This is how it looked inside - brand new.

As I mentioned above, this was the issue on mine. The water got into the fuse panel bulkhead.

Thank you jprevat I figured you wouldn't just leave me hangin.

To white89gt, yes I took it apart and inspected it. Nothing looked blown. I kept it inside for a day or two above my fire place, hooked it back up And nothing. I may unplug it again. Just to see if it will

Alright. So I can find all kinds that match the part number for a 4x2 pick up. But none that match the smaller number exactly. Call your dealer or go talk to the shop manager and see if the can reprogram your gem to your truck. They should be able to do it in a few minutes. Ill keep looking but I honestly dont even know if you have to match all of the smaller numbers due to updates.

Update and need advice to what this means!!!
Hooked gem back up. Wiggled connectors and then the starter would crank over!! But rpm gauge was still stuck around 3k and the od light was on what does this mean?? Does this mean that my gem is still good?

I have all ideas that gem will work just fine when reflashed. Does the rpm stick at 3k when you just turn the key forward without cranking it over?
