Gears- normal wear pattern?

Did you remove the pinion flange? By the looks of this 2nd video you need to tighten up the pinion nut. I don't think there should be that much movement on the pinion. There is a special "crush sleeve" inside, that is supposed to be torqued to a certain reading, or else there is a technique I have used in counting the exposed threads on the shaft.

If you have this much play I don't think you will drive far without doing some damage to the mating gears inside the diff.

The second video looks like where the slip yoke enters the transfer case, not the differential; it's the other end of the drive shaft. That's where the sliding takes place.

Oh yeah, I thought he was meaning something else but yes the second video is the front of the driveshaft. How much "slide" is normal? Should something around the rearend be tightened up? Seems like a lot but again, I don't know.

Your rear end looks fine. Gear pattern looks great. If the pinion nut was loose you would have a vibration from hell. Glad to hear grease fixed it. I wish grease was the anwer to mine, i ended up with a broken trans mount.
