It seriously depends on the tire manufacturer!
I have owned some 35" tires that measured 34.5" and some that measure 36".

BFG is one company that I have noticed oversizes there tires a bit.

This isn't entirely true. I have a 2000 4x4 lariat with a 8 inch rear and 3.55s. But, my dad has a 98 xlt 2wd and he has a 9 inch rear and 3.55 both have towing packages and is ISN'T a 7700. So xlts can have 3.55s as a standard thing too. I'm not sure why he has a lesser package than me and has a bigger rear, kinda makes me mad

Your axle is an 8.8 and your dads is a 9.75.

For anyone to say ford put this gear ratio in these trucks and that gear ration in those trucks is ridiculous.

There is no set standard. In 97-03 f150s ford used 3.55s and 3.73s in there 4x4s mostly and if you want to know what you have look on the door sticker.
