Default gas mileage question

hey everyone im back after a while. i was going to get a new truck but never did. now i want one again and need to know about how much mpg these 97-03's get. i plan on putting AT's on whatever i get and a 4x4.

as for engine whatever gets better gas mileage. im looking between these, silverado's, and tundra's.

also i want an access cab. thanks

With a stock 4wd F150 97-03 with stock 265/70/17s or 16s with 5.4 no mods you could manage anywhere from 12-14 city to 16-18 highway.. all depends on driving habits.

I'm on stock tires, stock gears, programmer, CAI, straight pipe and drive hard and still manage 16mpg on the highway and if I ever drove the speed limit with cruise control I could manage 18+.

You'll get between 10-20mpg no matter what TRUCK you get.
If you want better fuel mileage, get a v6/small v8, 2wd, 5-speed, and high (3.00, 3.15) rearend gear ratio.

I've got 33" MTs and 5.4 with 3:73 gears and I avg about 14-15mpg. I have gotten better than that and I have got worse than that. I'd take my truck over a silverado or a trundra any day of the week.

I have a 99 with the 4.6l, cold air intake, throttle body spacer, stage 2 jet chip, dual exhaust, headers. And it's on 35" tires. I get 16-20mpg in city and I haul *** when I drive.

Plain and simple, if you are asking about gas mileage, your on the wrong forum. If your worried about gas mileage you need to buy a 4 cylinder compact car. If you NEED a truck, the gas shouldnt matter because they all get about the same mileage.

thanks for replies... very impressed with the guys with lifted trucks getting what they say with some performance mods done. reason im asking is cause i have a 03 4runner, 4.7L with a 3.5-4'' lift and 33's on stock gears and get 13mpg city and 16 highway, its also a 2wd. i need/want a real truck so i want better mileage. i plan on keeping stock, minus all terrains, pipes, CAI, and maybe a chip. and if i cant help myself a leveling kit. but thats why im asking.
thanks though.

also i found a 04 f150 4x4 for a pretty good deal. i know wrong sub forum but do yall know how much a stock one of those gets? thanks

yea i really need a truck bed for a lot of different stuff and i plan on keeping it stock... let me refrase that, keeping suspension stock, besides maybe leveling kit as i said. i just need to hurry up and sell my 4runner haha. i found an awesome deal on an 04, not the heritage. thanks for all the replies guys.

also if i dont end up getting an 04, whats the best year to look for 97-03? i want a scab but want all the doors to open. also whats a better engine gas mileage wise? thanks
