Gains from an SCT tune
Well I finally got a job again and now I am looking into a tuner from SCT. I more than likely won't be getting the tuner until somewhere around March. Anyways how much horsepower, torque, and MPG can I expect to gain from the 87 performance/tow, the 87 economy, and the 93 performance? I have heard numbers ranging from gains of 10 hp all the way up to 30 hp and 1 mpg up to 3 mpg gains. Can anyone provide the dyno sheets for each tune on a somewhat stock 5.4, as well as a stock dyno sheet? How much of a difference does each one of the tunes feel when you are driving?
Thanks!!
here is the tuner

You'll probably gain around 10 both in hp and torque across the board with a good tune. Mpg, you won't notice a difference. The big difference you'll notice is running like a 93 octane tune when towing or using it for power.
P.s. there is no such thing as economy / power / performance / torque / whatever tune. You aren't running a diesel with a turbo or anything fancy. You're running a naturally aspirated gas engine. The biggest difference in where you make your power is in timing. And what octane you run with it. So when you get it, get a 87-89, 91, and 93 octane tunes.

Can't go wrong with custom tune from MPT. Mike there def knows what he is doing.
And TLB4, sorry to tell ya boss but you are incorrect as far as there not being different types of tunes for n/a engines. Will they be as BIG as a difference as on a diesel or forced induction vehicle? No but still a noticable difference depending on what type of tunes you get.
For the 5.4, on average, you would be looking at about 22 rwhp for a stock 5.4 and 20 torque but those gains are on a SCT tune, a custom tune from MPT prob would be able to pull lil more power out, but you would want to contact them to see by how much, they are a vendor here on the boards as well and I'm sure could help you out.

How much power are you really going to pull out of a 5.4L forced induction truck. There isn't too much change to be made that Ford wouldn't have already tried to get out of it. Explain what you would change then to get more power out if I don't know what I'm talking about.
And pulling 22-25 rwhp for a stock 5.4 and 20-24 torque is questionable. Maybe on a 93 octane tune. But orginal 87 octane to new 87 octane tune, I don't see that happening. I never saw any kind of performance gains like that, and I got my truck tuned from a company specializing in Ford tunes.

Thanks for all the responses guys! I'm definitely looking forward to getting a tuner. So is there any mpg gains? Or are they minimal?
And sorry I didn't mean to start an argument
