fx4 sticker damaging paint?
#1
I have an 03 fx4, and the fx4 stickers on the bed are starting to crack, which doesnt really concern me, but around the edge of the stickers is a line of black where the sticker peeled off, and it doesnt come off at all. It feels smooth. Is it residue? Or is the paint possible damaged? I want ro remove the stickers to put new ones. Is there anything i can do to remove the lines?

Wow this is the first time I've ever seen anything like this. Has the truck been repainted? It almost looks like the decal shrunk leaving behind the adhesive from the original size. I would say tape off a square around them and use an adhesive softener like goo be gone and see if you can work away some of that. But about any way you go about this you'll have to risk damaging the paint IF intact that is the paint.

Fingers crossed, it might be just the residue baked on the paint. It looks like it wants to come off when i put a fingernail to it. Ill have to try something to put on it to try and get it off. Anything thats safe for paint?

Wanna bring this thread back up. I need suggestions on how to remove the black "residue" from under the fx4 stickers. I feel like its baked into the paint. Would polishing compound work, or would i need to have it high speed buffed?

Did you try goo gone? If you did, then I would try a rubbing compound. Past that, heat it up with like a hair dryer (don't get it too hot, you don't want to burn the paint) and start rubbing it off with your fingers. Lightly scraping with a credit card or something like that may also help.
