the most i can get at any gas station is about 21 gallons . i always fill up within 10 miles or so of the gas light coming on.. do you think the light would come on with over 3 gallons still in the tank?

I have a 03' F150 5.4 and the most I've put in is just over 21 gallons. I've never had my gas light come on yet... I was told I have a 25 gallon tank?

From my understanding
short bed = 25 gallon
long bed = 30 gallon

I am pretty sure I read this in my manual.
I'm for sure about the long bed though.

on my 2000 4.2 V6 I have the reg cab so it's 24.5 gallons. When my low fuel light comes on I can easily drive another 50-75 miles without even getting scared and I've still never run out of gas

awesome, just the kind of answer i was lookin for
i have the short bed too
i really never thought about this untill the other night, i was a good distance from home, or any gas station, on some back roads, wasnt paying attention an my gas light came on and i still had about 20+ miles to drive before i reached a gas station, but if its really coming on with 3+ gallons left in the tank, then i guess i had nothing to worry about, thanks!
im thinkin about fillin up a 5 gallon tank and puttin it in the back, and running it till its empty onetime just to see what the limit is before u run out,, anyone else tried this?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it a bad idea to run a fuel injected vehicle out of gas? I think that it can foul up your fuel injectors?

Not to mention it picks up all the dirt and debris in the bottom of your tank...

well jeez... good thing i read that before trying it! haha
i only thought it was bad to run 2 cycle engines out of fuel because of the lack of lubrication in the cumbustion chamber and crank without it, apparently i was wrong as usual!
so i wont be runnin my truck outa gas... thanks!
