It's been a while since I have done a fuel filter replacement. Call me lazy, but I like the Ford house touching my truck. But I have some free time on my hands next week and trying to fill up those free time is difficult.

2002 f150 4.6 and 2000 f150 5.4 I need to change fuel filter on both of them. Do I need a special tool and anyone know where it's located? (I haven't looked, I am sure it's pretty easy to find)

PS. I did search and could not find this info anywhere

yes u need a special tool, they sell them in autopart store. im sure its along side of the chassis by the driver side door, if im not mistaken


u can use these, they are meant for a/c lines and fuel lines

The ones for A/C will barely fit. PB Plaster will do wonders in helping remove the dirt that gets built up in side the fittings..

Both of those suck...buy a good tool and avoid problems

Its inside the framerail almost under drivers door. I bought the plastic fuel line removal tool kit from advanced auto for like 5-10 bucks. It takes a bit of pushing and pullin but it does come off lolol. GL

i use the small key chain look alike tool.. dont know the proper name for it. it has 4 different sizes and their small. works great.

Does autozone or oriely's or advance or napa carry those?

All auto parts stores should carry these fuel disconnect tool. Depending on the build date and options you would need a 5/16" (8mm) or a 3/8" (10mm) tool for the fuel filter
