Front wheel bearing or Hub??
I beleive I might have a bearing oe hub going out on my 2001 F150 SuperCrew 4x4. The passager right side is nor squaeling or grinding of any sort, but I hear a huuummmm sounds at some lower speeds on the highway. Is there a way to check the hub or bearing while still on the truck?

jack up your truck keep the tire on it grab the tire at 12o clock and 6 oclock and pull up and down on it and while you are doing that feel for free play or looseness in it thats a way to check it.

I jacked it up from the frame and the passenger wheel will turn for a bit then it acts like it hits something and then with some muscle I can get it to move again and then it acts like it hits something again....so I jacked it up under the A frame and the wheel spinns freeley no problem??
No problems either way from the drivers side??

Sounds like your hub is locked, does the axle turn when spinning the wheel. Compare the right side to the left. If the hubs are not locked, neither axle should turn when spinning the tire.
Spinning the wheels will make a noise if the bearings are bad, again compare to the other side. Good bearings make no noise. Hope this helps.

Your description of the wheel being difficult to rotate with the A arm unsupported is indicative of a CV joint that is failing. Are the boots leaking any grease? Grab the ½ shaft and dry to move it up and down in the joint. The joints should be tight not loose.

Being that its soon to be a 10yr old truck replace the hub cause they are prone to go bad. Not hard to replace, just hard on the wallet Who knows when you dig into it you might find the problem
