Friends 97 F150 4wd not engaging
A friend has a 97 F150 4wd with the manual shifter on the floor. All i can find info on is the electric dash switch models.
So, his problem is that when he engages the floor shifter, the lights come on in the dash, but the wheels aren't engaging. What can i tell him to check on to get this problem fixed?
He's a little, ok, ALOT computer illiterate so i am asking for him. lmao.

Does he have manual or auto locking hubs?
If manual does he engage them?

I will have to ask him in the morning, but i believe it has the auto locking hubs. I know he's used the 4wd before, and has never mentioned having to manually lock the hubs. So i am assuming at this point they are the auto locking hubs.

The 97's use a vacuum actuator on the front axle to engage the front diff.
There are no "hubs" on the 97's like older models.
Check that the actuator is not stuck and check for vacuum on the correct line.
You should be able to find the details with a forum search.
