Default New Radio

Hey guys I am thinking about buying a double din radio today. I just need to know what size can actually fit in my truck. I know about the cutting and everything. If you swapped out the radio in your truck can you show me what it looks like? Thanks

A double din will fit and for the most part its a standardized size. Radio depths have been changing greatly over the last few model years but they'll all still fit with enough trimming.

Besides the black housing that you'll see when you pull off the dash trim you will need to make a few cuts to pull out the stuff in the way.

You got that right. My nephew gave me a radio he had taken out of an Explorer so I pulled mine to see what I had to do. I hadn't taken a radio out in nearly 40 years if not more. My plain Jane Am\FM was all of an inch deep except for where it was a half inch.

That's a 5000-nex. I don't care about watching videos from my phone so I didn't need the next higher or newer models.

It does have a a secondary input which is nice. Right now I have a Pi installed which handles my RTL-SDR. Mostly this was just for a fun proof of concept and served no real purpose.

It's still in temporary install mode until I decide to properly mold a bezel for it. That'll probably end up being a winter project when I install the HAM & CB.

I run the pioneer AVH BHS3600. With a good amount of trimming it fits nice. It was pretty cheap at the time too. There are definitely much newer models out now.

i have on also. The main trick before you start cutting is to move the a/c control down 1/4"..
