Motorcraft filters have the anti-drainback valve which keeps the filter full. My 03 mustang GT would clatter for the first 2 seconds of a cold startup with a Fram but maybe only got a split second of noise with a Motorcraft.

I used the Motocraft Syn Blend 10W40 in my old truck, a 1992 F-150, 300ci/4.9L. From what I remember it was a good oil, but considering the age and mileage of the truck, I wouldnt take my personal testimony on THAT truck. With over 380,000 miles on it, oil was the least of its problems...
It is a good price though. You can pick up Motocraft Syn Blend oil at Walmart along with a Motocraft filter for well under $30. Right now im using Pennzoil Platinum, which runs higher of course being a full synthetic oil, but it came highly recommended by trusted friends and mechanics alike.

^Agreed. Pennzoil is a great oil at a fair price, and Platinum is even better. I tell ya what, a full synthetic oil change for around 30 bucks is good in my book.

Has anyone noticed the price of motor oil lately?? Just a year ago a 5 qt. container of Valvoline conventional 5w30 was about $10.80 at Walmart. Last week I picked up the same container at Wallyworld for almost $16 bucks! Not to mention I need to also get another 2 single quart singles. I should just buy 6 5 qt containers and 4 filters at a time if were gonna see this type of inflation for a while! Does anyone use the Walmart synthetic?

After hearing a walmart oil change employee tell me himself that he believes walmart automotive fluids are crap, ive avoided them. Not because I fully believed him, but more because the few cents/dollars extra for the STP brand wasnt too much to ask. If you research it and find that SuperTech synthetic has all the additives and benefits of other name brand synthetic oils then more power to ya! I personally use Pennzoil Platinum, which comes on sale frequently at my local walmart.

PP on sale at my local walmart right now for $20.50/5qts..
If your truck is up there in mileage i dont think i would switch to a full synthetic oil because it will find any tiny leak you could possibly have.. I just picked up my 02 5.4 with 92k and going to run Motorcraft 5w20 syn blend (w/ motorcraft filter of course) for a few changes and go from there..
*** I would use SuperTech transmission fluid any day of the week, just dropped the pan on my F150 and threw a couple quarts of ST Mercon V in there.. I hear nothing but good things about their tranny fluids.. they meet all the specs for half the price of the other stuff..

i like the price of mc its 277 a quart at walmart or a 5 quart bottle for 1150, and the mc filter is 3 dollars. this stuff is cheap and ford recomends it, so why not? but im not sure about the 5k oil change interval, i do mine at 3k. just stay away from pensoil and quakerstate, you can change the oil in a penn motor run it 5 min and its black again, because they are full of gunk. motorcraft, castrol, or valvoline are the best conv or syn.
