I used the Motocraft Syn Blend 10W40 in my old truck, a 1992 F-150, 300ci/4.9L. From what I remember it was a good oil, but considering the age and mileage of the truck, I wouldnt take my personal testimony on THAT truck. With over 380,000 miles on it, oil was the least of its problems...

It is a good price though. You can pick up Motocraft Syn Blend oil at Walmart along with a Motocraft filter for well under $30. Right now im using Pennzoil Platinum, which runs higher of course being a full synthetic oil, but it came highly recommended by trusted friends and mechanics alike.

^^^380,000 is great man! The ole I6 is a tuff engine....anyway I use the Motocraft semi syn in all my Fords and I think it's great. But there are a bunch of good oils out....the important part is always use a Motocraft oil filter ONLY.

Default Unwarranted Concern:

Any good brand of oil rated API SM or SL in the viscosity recommended for the engine will provide good service. I like Mobil 1 High Mileage; others like Amsoil; others swear by Motorcraft and so on. Put 'em all in a bag, shake 'em up, pull one out and you'll have a winner.

If your looking for a full synthetic ford also offers one, but obviously it is more expensive.

the main thing is don't use Fram fliters...they don't have the correct valve in them to help with dry starts. Motorcraft ftw!
