I just bought a 1997 ford f150 with the 4.6 it has the common manafold leaking was planning on switching to shorty headers and duel exhaust any ideas and my cluster lights don't work any ideas why that could be

There is absolutely zero point in shorty headers. The power you make is so high in the powerband it's unusable unless you're trying to grenade the thing. Anything besides long tubes is a complete waist. I'm sure others can give you more specifics.

Go back with stock manifolds.

Mess witb your dimmer switch for the dash lights. It does nothing get a used switch. If it still does nothing get ready to pull your cluster to take a look at the bulbs.
