Default Ford 5.4L vs. Chevy 5.3L

My buddy has the Chevy, I have the Ford. Both trucks are 2002 extended cabs. He swears that his truck could "smoke mine," but I'm not too sure about that. If I could find a place to legally race him for not too much cost, I would do it in a heartbeat, but until then, what do you think would be the outcome?

they are geared differently and honestly every ford ive been in was always had a bit more pep to it when you get into the gas pedal compared to the chevys ive had experience with. of course i might be a bit biased

With no tunes involved and bone stock. Ford would take it, but it would be close.

Ive owned Chevys, Ive owned Fords ...I love Ford over Chevy, but its all preference in my honest opinion. These 2 trucks stock would be a damn close race, those 5.3s arent dogs.

With no trailer.. The Chevy would take you ... If the drivers are equal ... If there is some weight or something involved id say the ford will take it.

buddy of mine has a full size tahoe with the 5.3 and i have a 98 scab 5.4. we were both bone stock besides exhuast( Both running no cats, no mufflers, true duals) and he was in the dust from the line, but now i have an edge cs, CAI, running 93 and he added a superchip, 305s, a bull bar, and a roof rack, running 93 and off the line i can stay a nose ahead until 3rd gear then hes gone. its the quickest grocery getter ive ever been in. not sure how he added weight and was able to get ahead. of course it was on a track.

My trucks just barely faster than my buddy's 3/4 ton crew cab chevy with the 6-0 and 33s. I think the chevy is a little faster but ford pulls better. Both are great trucks if taken care of. I cant tell you how many times i wish id bought a chevy lol
