Pics are of Parking lights and Fogs and High beams and fogs! Enjoy!!
I have a 1998 Ford F150 and my connector is different than the one in the pic. I have 3 seperate plugs (no auto lights). The front of my switch is identical to the one in the posting.

I spilced yellow and brown and the fog lights come on with parking lights, go OFF with low beams and ON with high beams. Any ideas on how to fix this or why it's working like that?

I tried this also. When I connected them together, all of my dash lights blew out. I can't even figure why? Every fuse is ok.

Yea, I don't recall switching wires around on the 98, just dremeling the limiting ketch on the switch. That was 10-12 years ago tho. It was tricky, look for an old write-up. Should still be out there.

OK...so basically I can just turn them on with the parking lights and low beams only. No hi-beam?

You can turn them on with parking lights and no headlights OR low and high beams. I have to at least have the parking lights on, that's all.

My fogs are the originals and they are bright enough that you can forget you don't have your headlights on. I've been pulled over by the cods for improper lighting once for that. I think the officer was having a bad day is all lol.

Just be careful and slow going when modifying, I recall guys that were doing this were screwing up on occasion and resorted to buying a new assembly for a do over. So make sure you got it down before attempting. It was so long ago for me, - maybe you should wait for another to post up with a 97 or 98 for details. It can be done successfully , if I can do it....

I just dremeled the switch out with no problem at all. Pops out with easy in parking mode and headlight mode. No fog lights though when I pull it out on parking mode. Just on low beam headlight mode. So I have to splice something somewhere????

I gave up and cheated. I cut the factory wire going to the fog lights and spliced them directly to the parking lights. Issue resolved and I have fogs all the time whenever the parking lights are on!!!

Old thread I know but very VERY informative for getting the fogs to work with only the parking lights. However, no matter what i do in regards to the wiring i have found a peculiar problem... I'll explain...

I have an 02 Screw WITHOUT the autolamp option. I have made the needed "ramp" adjustment and the physical function of the switch is as expected. In testing the wiring portion of this mod, I have tried splicing together (at separate times) both pairs of wires... first the (#5 yellow + #12 Brown) then tried the (#2 white/blk + #12 brown) wires. In both scenarios ALL forward lights are illuminated when the headlight switch is pulled out regardless of park/headlight position. The fog light indicator on the headlight switch illuminates as expected too.
My best guess as to my problem... I have converted the Headlights AND the foglights to LED bulbs. What I am wondering is if LEDs were taken into consideration over the course of this thread... Could it be possibly, that the much lower power requirements of LED bulbs, coupled with or on its own, if the forward/reverse voltage characteristics of LEDs could cause the headlights to illuminate when the headlight switch is in the park position with the switch pulled out to activate the fogs?ANY thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Looking over all of these posts, I don't know if the issue with '97 and '98 models was ever resolved. I would like to do this mod to my '98 Lariat. Is it definitely splicing yellow and brown wires for '97 and '98 models too? I saw one post where the fog light wire was clipped prior to splicing to make this work. Is that the recommended procedure?
