Spot welded really?
Most of them are held in by a metal tab that you just straighten then pull them out!
Sounds like someone might have soldered yours if they broke off the metal tabs. You can heat the solder up with a soldering iron then pull them out. Or send your board in for replacement there are companies that will send you a fixed board for about $100 bucks.
Sorry buddy you are the only one that I have ever read about having thier board soldered!

hawk, nope, some were done that way from factory from all the research I've done trying to figure this thing out. If ye don't see it, ye don't believe it? You can see the little welds/solders wha'ever, at the ends where the tabs are:

Sorry to hear that.
If you can't get them out.
I guess the cheapest way to get it fixed would be to send the board to one of those places that will send you a board already fixed?
Sorry you have to go that way.
Good luck keep me posted.
Thanks.

Thanks, hawk. Looks like that's what I'll have to do. Here's another thread with a guy who also has the welded kind. It's post #72:

So test the line, it was ok telling me now it is the head unit. Well I did as one of the other threads/links suggested with replacing the 4 o-rings I saved the file and the user Devilsrighthand was bang on with his instructions. I am very happy that this worked out. No one has pictures but I did take some to show the tear down and the plunger with the rings that need replacing

photos and new thread are for search references

1) remove the 2 torks -T20 screws brass color
2) once apart, remove the red plug from the circuit board (red and black wires)
3) remove the vacuum port manifold
4) remove the 10 phillips screws and the silver bracket mine were coloored green
5) bend the tabs straight by the foam filters and gently pull the plunger out careful not to loose the spring and seat plunger inside

replace the o-rings, use silicone spray and 9/32 OD with 5/32 ID O-Rings and put back together, now enjoy the heat once again on the floor vent

i replace all four o rings and my 03 F150 is still stuck on defrost. What would be the next move? Any help would be appreciated.

Default 2003 F150 Lariat

Good afternoon,

I need some help and I hope that I am in the right place. I think that I have a vaccum leak to my EATC but I can not find out where. I have taken it to my mechanic and we have replaced and pressure checked all the lines and also the one way valves. Everything holds pressure from the throttle body to the reservoir. I have gone through and rebuilt the EATC a couple times thinking I got a twisted O ring. I loose ac to the default position but I can turn the unit off wait a couple of seconds turn the unit back on and everything works again. So I am kind of at a stand still and looking for ideas.

not much of a mechanic it seems

you should take a hand powered vac pump, cap the line off, and start vacuum checking the line and eatc and find what leaks, instead of hit or miss.
