It thinks it is at it's home point of reference. It took me a bit to get mine up and set to Anchorage. It went from Detroit to Canada and made it's way to Anchorage, then I made it my home port. It was a bit weird, but once I figured where it was reading from, it made it easier to use. My Mustang's original navi unit, was the same way. It was showing Flint Rock michigan as it's home point and had to be set to Anchorage. It is a bit easier with the newer heads, but it is doable with these Visteon's.
This is from the Escapes owner's manual. 2006 Escape page 35.
9. HOME: When the home location
is empty, pressing and holding this
key will store the vehicle’s current
location as home. Pressing the home
key after the home location has been set will calculate a route to that set
home location.
I believe it is still looking for it's new home. Good luck.

These units only use a sectional map CD. They are not updateable by downloads. That is the major drawbacks for this particular head, but it is a cheap, decent mod for the money. I'm guessing but I would have to say the 1999-04H trucks have the newer dash and it is already cut or designed for the bigger squarer heads. That is a nice change. Glad Jberg got his head in and it works. I love the RDS function, as some of the newer songs I don't know their exact names. lol
I'm also at the intersection a major highway and interstate...smh

After looking through it, it thinks I am in Pennsylvania. If I put a location close such as Ohio it routes just fine...still won't pick me up in IL

You are not getting a signal then. If it still thinks you are there. You will have to move the antenna to a better place to get a signal. Maybe just lay it on top the dash for a while to find you sweet spot then put the antenna there. It took me a while to finally get mine to see the signal that i was in Alaska. When it found me it started working.

I've tried it on top of the dash and on top of the roof through the sunroof for ****s and giggles. Nothing
It does fit in there nicely though
