I really want to order the auxiliary harness for my OEM single disc radio. This unit looks like it will work BUT Is my unit cd-changer ready? It says insert a CD and hit the CD button twice. Nothing happened on mine, I really would love to have an AUX port so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. http://www.oemautosound.com/p-48-for...-frdn-aux.aspxakdoggie Carcrazygts2 ***** talked to tech support they said it will fit**** now i just need to decide if i need the "cable" "RCA jacks" or the "3.5 headphone cable"

Personally I'd go with the RCA jacks. You can use them with the adapter for the 3.5 plug and add a Y connector that accepts the same plug. You could make a small mount plate, and use the connector and plug as a permanent mount items. You can also buy on eBay a USB mount that bolts under the dash for under $8 and that might fit your needs also. It is just a 12v to 5v reducer and has a mount with holes for attaching. I just put one under my dash so I could run a tablet, or whatever, supplying power without using my power (cigarette lighter) port. I need that for the radar detector. lol.

I may have a few questions. Everything besides the unit came in today.
After work tonight, I'll be making the harness.
Color for color, the wires from each doesn't 100% match.
I also have all the CDs in as well.

The unit is on delivery so I should have it tomorrow and will install when it gets here in the after noon, as I leave in the morning.

I'll keep you posted

Cool. Just read the bags that the wiring came in and match the basic colors. You won't use everyone of them. The two purple, green, grey and whites together are the speakers, the rest is power constant, power with key, ground and lastly the one for the illumination. That is basically all you need to add together, along with adding the navigation antenna plug. Good luck.

Do you remember if this way is up on the truck connector? I don't have my truck in front of me and don't want to twist the harness

I so want to do this to both trucks. But better headlights are more important.

So.... I bought two genuine metra connectors oem in the pkg.
Wire colors do not match the labels on the back of the packages.

For example. The 70-1771 says is should have an ORANGE and an ORANGE/WHITE

In fact, it has an ORANGE and an ORANGE/BLACK

there of three more instances of this, so is ok to hook up anyways?

Just make sure you follow Power VBatt+, Ign +, Ground, and Illumination. If I recall the colors are different for the individual doors also.

Illumination is the problem. I don't have the truck nor the head unit in front of me and am just trying to follow the diagrams

Both connection say:
Illumination: ORANGE
Dimmer: ORANGE/WHITE

actuality:
The 70-1771 Has an ORANGE and ORANGE/BLACK

The 71-1777 has an ORANGE/WHITE and an ORANGE/BLACK

Now wth....

which one is the factory harness for your truck? I can look up both wiring diagrams and give you a actual pin number.

I just went and looked at my setup even though its aftermarket. My illumination on the metra harness is Orange/Black.
