OP,
I was in the same position as you over this past summer. I didnt have much money to spend on a car but I knew I wanted a truck so I figured the smaller it is the cheaper it is, so I started looking all over for a good deal on a ranger. I looked all summer for a ranger and didnt find anything that worked for me in terms of rangers, but I did find an f150 that turned out to be much cheaper than all the rangers I was looking at, and it can actually sit more than two people.

I think when it comes down to it, it depends on a few things. How big are you? I know you are only 16 but I am 21 now and let me tell you I was pretty cramped in a ranger and I am only 6' 190lbs. Also how many people do you want to be able to ride with you? If you want more than one passenger get an f150. If you want more bed space go with an f150.

In my opinion I see rangers now and wonder why I ever wanted one. F150s are much more versatile in terms of cargo and seating. One day I can be driving five of my friends (uncomfortably) out to a party and the next day I can be hauling a ton a stuff in my 8 ft bed all with the same vehicle. There is no way I could do that in a ranger.

while all rangers are good trucks the 2001 and up 4.0 is a better 4.0 with better MPG's. Also more power
Also I'm 6'2 225lbs and I was just fine in one so being cramped for room is BS.

I personally love the 4.0L. thats what our 2004 explorer has and it has some power, I drive that thing quick. in your situation, it sounds like you dont haul much if anything, so I would go with a ranger. there is a kid at my school with a yellow edge with some lift to it and I think 33s and its a nice truck. its what I would have if I didnt haul the kind of stuff I do
